Active Isolated Stretching: Empowerment through Flexibility by Marjorie Brook article in Massage Today
Massage therapists are expected to alleviate stress, help with relaxation, and relieve pain caused by injuries, repetitive use and physical limitations. A therapist's success in doing so often leads clients to view their massage therapist as a "cure-all." Sooner or later, however, a massage therapist might be faced with questions from their clients such as: "Why does the pain keep coming back?" or "I feel better, but I am afraid to do anything that might start the pain again." ....read more at

Brook Seminars Presents New Scar Tissue Release Therapy Techniques at Seminar in Bristol, RI
Long Island, NY, February 27, 2009 -- Brook Seminars, continuing education for health and fitness professionals, today announced they will be premiering Marjorie Brooks' exclusive Scar Tissue Release Therapy techniques at their upcoming seminar at EVOLUTION in Bristol, RI on Saturday March 21, 2009.
Designed for bodywork professionals and therapists of all levels of experience, the half day workshop will concentrate on the physiological and anatomical principles of fascia restrictions, lengthening of the superficial to deep fascia, breaking down of adhesions and the increase of lymphatic and venous circulation. The long and short term effects of scar tissue from the physiological to the psychological, neuropathy, and various sports medicine considerations will also be discussed during the seminar. After the lecture, a detailed, six step approach to manually release scaring and adhesions from the fascia will be presented.
According to Marjorie Brook, President of Brook Seminars, "treating scar tissue is often neglected by health care professionals because the extent of physiological effects scars can have on the body has never really been acknowledged. The slightest restriction through the elaborate matrix of fascia can have major repercussions from one end of the body to the other. Fortunately, to work scar tissue is extraordinarily simple to learn, easy to apply and yields powerful results that can prevent a lifetime of compensation, complications and pain".

"I place Marjorie high among the best Active Isolated Practitioners in the world. She is a Cutting Edge teacher who students across the nation rate as exceptional" said Aaron Mattes, MS, RKT and LMT, Developer Active Isolated Stretching: The Mattes Method.
Brook Seminars, taught by Marjorie Brook, provides personalized, informative and comprehensive continuing education courses in Active Isolated Stretching (AIS), Scar Tissue Release Therapy and Body Mechanics for health practitioners and their clients. Long Island, NY, January 21, 2009 -- Brook Seminars, continuing education for health and fitness professionals, today announced that Marjorie Brook will be presenting Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) to sports chiropractors, student interns and coaches from throughout the New York Finger Lakes region.
Scheduled for January 24, 2009, from 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM at the Seneca Falls Country Club, the Seminar will be comprised of 20% lecture, 80% hands-on work and will cover the proper stretching techniques that are specific to create freedom of the spine and pelvis.

Elastic Massage; Learn how to get flexible while being kind to your muscles.
By Kelly Barbieri
... Why was AIS so effective? According to Brook, when muscle injury occurs, collagen is spun in the muscle fibers to help in healing. The mass of collagen usually remains embedded in the fibers, forming lumps that can be felt during massage. AIS lengthens the muscle and breaks up the collagen, sending it into the bloodstream and improving circulation within the injured tissue... Read the full article
